HARRY SHACKLETON HAS BEEN NAMED IN THE ENGLAND ACADEMY SQUAD TO TACKLE WALES ON 19TH OCTOBER – WITH HEAD OF YOUTH LEIGH BEATTIE HAILING A DESERVED CALL-UP!
The half-back has impressed for Beattie’s Under-19s throughout 2019 and has also featured for Garreth Carvell’s Reserves.
Shackleton, sponsored by Graeme Smith this season, also received a call up to the Yorkshire squad for the 2019 Origin series against Lancashire.
With a training camp taking place in Wales prior to the one-test series, Beattie has praised Shackleton’s efforts on return from a knee injury suffered in the early stages of the season.
“Harry has not looked out of place since moving up from the Scholarship side – some players can struggle at first with the step up in intensity and the age gap,” said Beattie.
“That shows the class of Harry – he got a nasty knee injury early in the season but worked hard to get back on the field and has come back strong from that.
“Harry works hard both on the pitch and in the gym – he has bags of talent and fully deserves his call up and he will be one to watch out for in the near future.”
